TLE8880TNAKSA1 Description
A monolithic full-featured regulator created exclusively for closed loop voltage management is the alternator control IC TLE8880. It can be utilized in rotating field winding 12V automobile multiphase alternators. Through a common LIN interface, this regulator can talk to an Engine-Management or Energy-Management ECU. The battery voltage is precisely controlled to be in the range of 10.6V and 16V. The regulator can function even in the absence of a communication channel by using freely changeable parameters. According to the VDA LIN Alternator Regulator specification, the TLE8880 complies. A High-Side DMOS with a typical RDS(on) of 60m for up to 12A excitation current to the field winding makes up the output driver stage. The chip offers alternator lines 8kV ESD protection. The chip has an EEPROM with programmable parameters that can be used to adapt the alternator to the requirements of the particular OEM or application.
