The TPS775xx and TPS776xx devices are desianed to have a fast transient response andbe stable witn a 10uF low ESRcapacitor.Thiscombination provides high performance at a reasonable cost
Because the PMos device behaves as a low-value resistor, the dropout voltage is very low(typically169mV at an output current of 500mA for the TPS77x33)and is directly proportionalto theoutput current.Additionally. since the PMos passelement is a voltage-driven devicethe quiescent current is very low and independent of output loadingtypically85uA over the full range of output currentOmA to500mA).These two keyspecifications yield a significant improvementinoperatinglifefor battery-powered systems.This LDO family also features a sleep modeapplying aTTLhigh signal to EN (enable) shuts down the regulatorreducing the quiescent current to 1uA at T=+25°℃.
