A voltage-follower configuration is used with an NMOS pass element in the TPS732 family of low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulators. This topology allows for operation without a capacitor and is stable when utilizing output capacitors with low equivalent series resistance (ESR). Additionally, the device offers ground pin current that is essentially constant for all values of output current and high reverse blockage (low reverse current).
