The TPS775xx and TPS776xxdevices are designed to have a fast transient response and be stable with a 10uF low ESR capacitorThiscombination provides high performance at a reasonable cost.
Because the pmos device behaves asalow-value resistor, the dropout voltage is verylow(typically169mV at an output current of 500mA forthe TPS77x33) and is directly proportional to the output current.Additionally since the PMos passelement is a voltage driven devicethe quiescent current is very low and independent of output loading(typically85uA over the full range of output currentOmA to500mA).These two keyspecifications yield a significant improvement inoperating life for battery-powered systems.This LDO familyalso features a sleep modeapplying a TTL high signal to EN (enable) shuts down the regulatorreducing the quiescent current to 1uA at T=+25°℃
