The TPS775xx and TPS776xx devices are made to be stable with a 10F low ESR capacitor and to have a quick transient response. This combo offers excellent performance at a fair price. The dropout voltage is very low (usually 169mV at an output current of 500mA for the TPS77x33) and precisely proportionate to the output current since the PMOS device functions as a low-value resistor.
