The TPS775xx and TPS776xx devices are designed to have a fast transient response and be stable with a 10uFlOW ESR capacitorThiscombination provides high performance at a reasonable cost.Because the PMos device behaves as alow-value resistor, the dropout voltage isverylow(typically169mV at an output current of 500mA for the TPS77x33) and is directly proportional to theoutput current.Additionally since the PMos passelement is a voltage-driven devicethe quiescent currentis very low and independent of output loading(typically85uA over the full range of output currentOmA to500mA). These two keyspecifications yield a significant improvement in operatinglife for battery-powered systems.This LDO familyalso features a sleep modeapplying a TTLhigh signal to EN (enable) shuts down the regulatorreducing the quiescent current to 1uA at T=+25°℃.
