With a 4.7-F capacitor, this device is intended to have an extremely low quiescent current and be stable. This combo offers excellent performance at a fair price. The dropout voltage is very low (usually 85 mV at an output current of 150 mA for the TPS76550) and precisely proportionate to the output current since the PMOS device functions as a low-value resistor.
