TPS5140PAGRG4 Product Details

TPS5140PAGRG4 Description

To supply the voltage rails required by notebook peripheral components, the TPS5140PAGRG4 is a dc/dc controller that combines three synchronous-buck controllers and one nonsynchronous 12-V boost converter on a single chip. To drive less expensive N-channel power MOSFETs, high-side and low-side synchronous rectifier drivers are integrated on the same chip. The N channel power MOSFET is part of the nonsynchronous boost converter, which also provides 120 mA for the PCMCIA power supply. Two of the synchronous-buck controllers work 180 degrees out of phase, independently controlling the outputs, while the third controller lowers the input current ripple and permits a smaller input capacitance to minimize the cost of the power supply.
