TL074 Description
TL074 belongs to the TL07X family of integrated circuits. Other single and dual op-amps in the TL07X family are the TL071 and TL072. The TL071 has one operational amplifier and the TL072 has two identical operational amplifiers. The TL074 has four operating amplifiers, all of which are identical. The IC comes in a 14-pin DIP plastic packaging. There are 56 transistors, 6 JFETs, 4 epi-FETs, 44 resistors, 4 diodes, and 4 capacitors in these four op amps.
The TL074 has the same features as the other ICs in this family, such as low input bias current, high slew rate, low current consuming circuitry, and no latchup. In no-load conditions, the quiescent current is only 1.4mA to 2.5mA. Each op amp has a JFET at the input, which cancels the majority of the noise from the signal and so provides a clean and low noise signal to the internal circuitry. This low noise capabilities makes this IC perfect for a wide range of audio applications. THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is also absent from the IC, which is advantageous in audio preamplifier applications.
