The BY255 is a Standard Recovery Rectifier Diode. An exclusive kind of diode called a rectifier transforms alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC). This is a crucial process because, unlike the direct current, which flows continuously in a single direction and is therefore easy to control, the alternating current might occasionally reverse direction.
