L78L05ABUTR Description
Internal current limiting and thermal shutdown make the L78L05ABUTR a three-terminal positive Voltage Regulator very indestructible. They can generate up to 100mA output current if a sufficient heatsink is provided. They're designed to be used as fixed voltage regulators in a variety of applications, including local or on-card regulation to avoid the noise and distribution issues that come with single-point regulation. They can also be utilized to construct high-current voltage regulators when combined with power pass components. It provides a significant improvement as well as lower quiescent current and noise when utilized as a Zener diode/resistor combination replacement.
