Description
The 3.0 A (min.) current limitation integrated Power MOSFET in the step-down switching regulator L5986 allows it to deliver up to 2.5 A of current to the load, depending on the application.
While the output voltage can be adjusted from 0.6 V to VIN, the input voltage can range from 2.9 V to 18 V. With a 2.9 V minimum input voltage, the device can also be used with a 3.3 V bus.
The gadget has an internal 250 kHz switching frequency oscillator that can be externally modified up to 1 MHz and requires a minimal set of external components.
The RthJA can be decreased to 60 °C/W and 40 °C/W, respectively, with the help of the QFN and HSOP packages with an exposed pad.
