Description
Depending on the application, the L5980 step-down switching regulator can deliver more than 0.7 A of DC current to the load because it has an incorporated Power MOSFET with a 1 A (min.) current limit.
The output voltage ranges from 0.6 V to VIN, whereas the input voltage ranges from 2.9 V to 18 V. The device can be used with a 3.3 V bus despite having a minimum input voltage of 2.9 V.
The gadget has an internal 250 kHz switching frequency oscillator that can be externally tuned up to 1 MHz and only needs a minimal set of external components.
The RthJA can be lowered to about 60 °C/W using the VFQFPN8 package, which has an exposed pad.
