MCF523x is a series of highly integrated 32-bit microcontrollers based on V2 Coldfire microarchitecture. The MCF523x series features 16 or 32-channel eTPU, 64K internal SRAM, 2 sets of SDRAM controllers, 4 32-bit timers with dedicated DMA, 4-channel DMA controllers, up to 2 CAN modules, 3 UART and 1 queued SPI, designed for general industrial control applications. This is also a high-performance upgrade for MC68332 users. This document provides an overview of the MCF523x microcontroller series and describes in detail the mechanical and electrical characteristics of these devices. The MCF523x series is based on version 2 Coldfire reduced instruction set Computing (RISC) microarchitecture with core frequencies up to 150 MHz and bus frequencies up to 75 MHz.
