MCP42010-I/SL Description
A digital potentiometer with an SPITM interface is the MCP42010-I/SL. Through an SPI interface that is widely used, the potentiometer's wiper position can vary linearly. During static operation, it uses 1 A. A software shutdown capability is available that connects the wiper to the B terminal and concurrently disconnects the A terminal from the resistor stack. Additionally, the SHDN pin on the dual MCP42XXX serves the same purpose in hardware. The wiper register's contents can be altered when the potentiometer is in shutdown mode, and the potentiometer will restart at the modified value. Upon power-up, the wiper is reset to the mid-scale position (80h). The wiper is brought back to mid-scale and a hardware reset is implemented using the RS (reset) pin. The SI and SO pins are included in its SPI interface, enabling daisy-chaining of many devices. The potentiometer's channel-to-channel resistance matching varies by less than 1%.
