LT1085CT Description
The LT1085CTpositive adjustable regulators are designed to give better efficiency than currently available devices at 3A, 5A, and 7.5A. The dropout voltage is thoroughly specified as a function of load current, and all internal circuitry is designed to perform down to 1V input to output differential. Dropout is assured at a maximum of 1.5V at maximum output current, with lower load currents resulting in lower dropout. Trimming on the chip reduces the output voltage by 1%. Under overload conditions, the current limit is also lowered, reducing the stress on the regulator and power source circuitry. Older three-terminal regulators are pin-compatible with the LT1085CT. On these new devices, a 10F output capacitor is required; nevertheless, this is normally included in most regulator designs.
