General Information. Hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH), formerly referred to as benzene hexachloride, exists in several isomeric forms, including alpha, beta, gamma, and delta. The gamma isomer, commonly known as lindane, can be used as an insecticide and has been used to kill soil-dwelling and plant-eating insects.
