Since the capacitor is basically a charge storage, there is no such equation as this hence you can say there is no electrical resistance. ... The impedance (or equivalent resistance) for a capacitor is 1/\u03c9C where \u03c9 is the current frequency and C the capacitance. For DC, \u03c9=0 and hence the impedance is infinite.May 20, 2017');})();(function(){window.jsl.dh('8','');})();(function(){window.jsl.dh('_fq6hYMrRIaWt0PEPoc2FsAQ42','

Given the seconds t it takes a capacitor (with farads C) to discharge from 5 volts (V0) to 0 volts (Vt), how do you calculate the effective ohms of resistance R in a circuit? Based on the standard capacitor voltage discharge formula Vt=V0(1\u2212e\u2212t/RC), would the resistance formula be R=\u2212tC\u22c5log(1\u2212Vt/V0)?Jan 28, 2013

All capacitors have a tolerance rating that can range from -20% to as high as +80% for aluminium electrolytic's affecting its actual or real value. The choice of capacitance is determined by the circuit configuration but the value read on the side of a capacitor may not necessarily be its actual value.
