RTC Library

This library allows an enables an Arduino based on SAMD architectures (es. Zero, MKRZero or MKR1000 Board) to control and use the internal RTC (Real Time Clock). A real-time clock is a clock that keeps track of the current time and that can be used in order to program actions at a certain time.

An RTC maintains its clock by counting the cycles of an oscillator \u2013 usually an external 32.768kHz crystal oscillator circuit, an internal capacitor based oscillator, or even an embedded quartz crystal. ... Some RTCs maintain the oscillator setting at the last known point before it went out of lock with the input.Jun 12, 2019

So to start, remove the battery from the holder while the Arduino is not powered or plugged into USB. Wait 3 seconds and then replace the battery. This resets the RTC chip.
