Coax, short for coaxial, is a type of cable used to transmit data, the internet, video and voice communications. A coax cable is made up of an aluminum and copper shield with an outer plastic jacket (see below) with the dielectric insulator helping to minimize signal loss.May 14, 2020');})();(function(){window.jsl.dh('_er2HYJPbJ4b6-gSw1IBo39','

The three most commonly used coaxial cable types for video applications are RG59/U, RG6/U and RG11/U. RG59/U is available with either solid copper or copper-clad-steel centre conductor. It's suitable for basic analog TV antenna feeds in residential applications and for basic CCTV systems over short cable runs.Nov 11, 2020

Most coaxial cables include both (although some RG 59 cables still use single shielding). In general, the more shielding you have, the better your cable will perform, especially in longer runs, but there are differences in what the shields protect.
