Diodes usually come in glass or plastic cylindrical packages, marked with a stripe on one side to indicate polarity. In a perfectly ideal diode, current flows in one direction only, from the anode (positive side) to the cathode (negative side) which is marked with the stripe.Jan 12, 2012');})();(function(){window.jsl.dh('_etNMYOGHEa-q0PEP4fKI2A859','');})();(function(){window.jsl.dh('_etNMYOGHEa-q0PEP4fKI2A8103','
Voltage connected to the diode in this direction is called forward bias. But if you reverse the voltage direction, applying the positive side to the cathode and the negative side to the anode, current doesn't flow. In effect, the diode becomes an insulator. ... Reverse bias doesn't allow current to flow.
