Huzzah (sometimes written hazzah; originally spelled huzza and pronounced huz-ZAY, in most modern varieties of English hurrah or hooray) is, according to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), "apparently a mere exclamation". The dictionary does not mention any specific derivation.
