How many yards are in a yard stick?

The simple answer, of course, is 1 Yard. (3 feet, or 36 inches). Sometimes, a yard stick has a little extra wood on the ends - for example, 1/8" of extra wood on each end makes a stick 36 1/4" long. With these yardsticks, it is 1 yard between marks.
