The 10GbE SFP+ modules allow 10G Ethernet and 10G fiber channel applications that cannot be compatible with copper-based cabling systems, and sometimes they can be used on 1G fiber optic networking. As for SFP+ DAC, it is not backward-compatible with existing Gigabit Ethernet switches and only used for 10GbE switches.
