Intel and Micron Technology are ramping production of flash memory at a new $3 billion flash memory fab in Singapore. The new facility is part of IM Flash, the joint venture between Intel and Micron to produce NAND memory chips.
The new fab, which is expected to be at full capacity later in the year, will employ about 1,200 workers and is ramping production of the companies' 25nm NAND flash memory chips.
Along with the new Singapore facility, the joint venture produces NAND memory at two other joint venture manufacturing locations: Lehi, Utah, and Micron's Manassas, Va., facility. Intel and Micron also recently introduced 20nm NAND Flash memory process technology that will be implemented at the IM Flash facilities during the course of 2011.
