There is a pattern in morse code, but it's not one to make memorizing easier. The pattern is in sending and receiving it. The more frequent a letter is used in the English language, the simpler the letter is to send. Whenever a long word, or phrase, is common in CW (morse code) communications, that gets abbreviated.
