1.4 DC TO DC CONVERTERS. Dc to dc converters, called choppers, are supplied from a dc voltage source, typically a diode rectifier and a dc link, as shown in Fig. 1.37. The dc link consists of a large capacitor connectedacross the input terminals of the chopper and, often but not necessarily, a series inductance.
